Thankful Thursday at Truth 4 the Journey

It's Thursday and time to join up with Sonya over at Truth 4 the Journey for Thankful Thursday. It's a time we set aside to list five things that we are truly thankful for.

It is such a blessing to be able to share what I am thankful for and rejoice with you in how God has blessed you as well.

Here are my thankfuls for this week......

1) I am thankful for a warm house!!! This week has been one of the coldest we've had in Alabama in a very long time and they're predicting it's going to get colder still!!! We are blessed with plenty of heat and the ability to afford it..along with blankets, warm soups and hot cocoa!!

2) I am thankful that DS's car is running better. He's had quite a time and he and DH have been playing a game of "Could it be this?"---a most frustrating game at best!

3) I am thankful that DD loves her new job at the hospital. Only 4 days in, but she said the atmosphere is so much better than the place she left. God is SO faithful!!

4) I am thankful that my Mom is excited about our trip in a little more than a week!! Sometimes Mom gets so wound up in what "might happen" that she doesn't enjoy the here and now.

5) I am thankful that DD's new boss is fine with her taking the time off for our trip. Most new employers frown on that. Again, God is SO faithful!!!

"All honor and glory to God forever and ever! He is the eternal King, the unseen One who never dies; He alone is God. Amen."

Here are my thankfuls for this week......

1) I am thankful that we had an incredibly blessed Christmas. With so much negative going on in our world, all I could do was look around and thank God for His blessings and faithfulness.

2) I am thankful for a super wonderful three days away with my husband. We celebrated 26 years of marriage on the 16th and I can honestly say that I'm more in love with him today than I was 26 years ago. Speaking of DH........

3) I am thankful for the Christmas gift he gave me. I'm a bear at Christmastime when it comes to giving money and/or gift cards as gifts. There is nothing wrong with that and in many cases, my teens prefer that..it's just something I, personally, don't like to give or receive. So, when I opened my gift from DH...I found, you guessed it..money. Knowing that he knows how I feel about that, I was slightly caught off guard until I read the letter that went along with it. The basic jest of the letter was that my DH had actually listened to something I said while we were away for our anniversary. I mentioned that I'd love to have a girls weekend, just me, my mom and DD. He gave me the money to do just that and in 2 weeks, we're off!!! How super is that man of mine!!?

4) I am thankful for answered prayer concerning DD's new job. She starts Monday at the hospital (where DH works). She will be working in Dietary in a management position, 40 hours a week with benefits and a substantial raise. There have been a lot of problems and some moral issues where she is currently working and this was a total God-send for her.

5) I am thankful for my warm, dry house. Here where I live, it is rainy and cold..typical winter..and going to get colder in the next week. I tend to take a warm, dry house for granted..not thinking about it because it's my life and where I live, but when I'm lying in bed at night and I hear the rain pelting against the window and the wind blowing all around..and I'm all snuggled under the blankets with DH's arms wrapped around me, I'm gently reminded of how truly blessed I am.

" O God, we give glory to You all day long and constantly praise Your name."
Psalm 44:8, NLT

Here are my thankfuls for this week......

1) I am thankful that I'm feeling better. My 'under the weather' turned out to be bronchitis!! But.....the coughing is less and my family is as thankful for that as I am!!!

2) I am thankful for the snow we got Saturday!! It wasn't much, but it sure was beautiful to look at!

3) I am thankful for the bargains that God has blessed me with in purchasing Christmas gifts for my kids. The older they get the more expensive their 'toys' are and those bargains are true blessings!!

4) I am thankful for the opportunity to teach the young girls at church on Wednesday night. It's been a while since I've had the younger girls and I'm really looking forward to it!!

5) I am thankful that next Wednesday I will be celebrating 26 years of marriage to the most wonderful man in the world!!!!

Here are my thankfuls for this week......

1) I am so thankful for what God has shown me during my blogging break. The enemy had such tight blinders on me and I had allowed him to pull them tighter and tighter. But God, as always, saw me drowning and extended His big, strong hand. I grabbed it and held on tightly because I was so afraid of what He would expose. What He showed me was painful and somewhat embarrassing, but He did it with such gentleness and love that I found myself thankful.

2) I am so thankful for each of my cyber friends/sisters who took the time to share their stories and extend their prayers and encouragement during my break. I truly never realized that others struggled with the very same things I have!!

3) I am so thankful for my wonderful family. I've been a bit under the weather this week with a head cold..or something, and I've not been my busy, somewhat perky self. They have all been so kind and understanding when the things that are normally done have gone undone. Even DS has been extra gentle with dear ole' mom!!

4) I am so thankful for the blessings that God showed me over the Thanksgiving holiday. I saw first hand how truly wonderfully He has blessed this family and all I can do is praise Him because I surely don't deserve any of it.

5) I am so thankful for the ability to see. This time of year brings out the Christmas lights and I turn into a 5 year old child all wide-eyed trying to take in the shear beauty of it all.

"He alone is your God, the only One Who is worthy of your praise, the One who has done these mighty miracles that you have seen with your own eyes."

Here are my thankfuls for this week......

1) I am thankful that my two teenagers strive to keep their lunch dates with each other. Every other week when they get paid, they go to lunch and spend the afternoon together. It blesses me so much to know that they are out together, making time for each other and strengthening the relationship they have together. I pray it is something they will continue all of their adult lives.

2) I am thankful for how well DD is doing 3 months into her dating sabbatical. She is at the halfway point and God has healed and revealed so much to her. She has grown so much in Him over these 3 months and it has been truly a blessing to get to witness that.

3) I am thankful for DD and DS who, upon meeting a family who had lost everything and was living in a hotel, went together and bought food and treasures for a Mom, Dad and 5 children who feel all hope is lost. They encouraged them and told them about Jesus and planted seeds that I know will grow and produce for Him!

4) I am thankful for DS's resolve to be faithful even when it means upsetting his girlfriend. She's a wonderful young lady, but is still learning that obedience to the calling of God is above anything else you can or could ever do.

5) I am thankful for my wonderful husband who has been by my side for almost 26 years and has been my total and complete strength and help in raising the beautiful teenagers we have today.

And one more..........I am most thankful to my Father in Heaven Who saw fit almost 18 years ago to draw on my heart and the heart of my husband. He saved us, restored my marriage and has blessed me with such a wonderful family. He is worthy to be praised!!!

"Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! No one can measure His greatness."

Here are my thankfuls for this week......

1) I am thankful for confirmation from God. Sunday night at church we had a visiting evangelist and the service was awesome!!...although right now I can't tell you what the message was about. The evangelist gave an altar call and for whatever reason....satan....I didn't move. Then, I couldn't stand it any longer and headed to the altar. Next thing I know, I'm holding a prayer cloth and the evangelist is eyeball to eyeball with me and when he spoke, God came out of his mouth!! It was so totally awesome to hear God tell me that He knows what I'm battling and that He is ready and more than able to take me by the hand and deliver me from the bondages that satan is trying so hard to keep me in.

2) I am thankful that my guys had a safe and wonderful weekend camping. They came home full of laughter and fun stories to share. Even throughout this week, they've made little statements that make no sense to me and DD, but will put them doubled over in laughter!

3) I am thankful for this sweet, sweet man at church nicknamed Mayor. He always greats me with a laugh and a smile and when he shakes my hand, he slips a peppermint in it. What a true blessing of happiness he is!!

4) I am thankful that my Dad's follow up Dr visit went well. Since his heart surgery, he's been a bit more tired, but the Dr is pleased with how well he is coming along.

5) I am thankful for my new WOW 2010, cd!! Seriously. I got a great deal on it, but there are some awesome God songs on there that do wonders in bringing me before the throne in praise to my Savior!

"My cup overflows with blessings."

Here are my thankfuls for this week......

1) I am thankful for a full week of sunshine!!! It has been so nice to wake up to the beautiful brightness of the sun AND I've gotten to hang my laundry on the line!!!

2) I am thankful for our heating system. Along with this beautiful sunshine and clear days has came the chillier weather!

3) I am thankful for the season that is upon us. I love this time of year!!! I love everything about it and my memories truly begin to flood my soul. It seems like almost everything can trigger a warm fuzzy!

4) I am thankful that God is blessing my guys with a rain free weekend. This weekend is their annual father/son camping trip and we were really concerned that with all the rain we'd been having, they might have a wet weekend. But as always..God is faithful!!

5) I am thankful for the time that I'll get to spend just me and DD while my guys are away. She's becoming an adult and I know that these moments are becoming more and more precious.

Here are my thankfuls for this week......

1) I am thankful for the breakthrough that God sent my way yesterday. It has been a long several months in my 'fight' with God. He requiring more than I'm willing to give. Me asking for things He can't give because of my disobedience. But yesterday while hanging out in Proverbs and 2 Timothy, God got through this thick skull and I release, repented and gave in.

2) I am thankful that after giving in to my Father, it wasn't very long at all until, while I was sitting at this computer checking some things and listening to some praise music, that I felt a warmth all over me and I knew without a doubt that my Father had reached down and wrapped me up in a big hug....I really needed that!

3) I am thankful for another successful I Care Ministry Sunday and the chance to meet the most precious 89 year old woman that I've ever seen. She was a true blessing to me...and I was there to be a blessing to her!!!

4) I am thankful for the sweet, sweet comment that my DH left on my Help Meet post this past Friday. This man of mine is the best gift God could have ever given me on this earth!!

5) I am thankful for the open communication between me and my teenagers. It's not always been easy and sometimes it's been a downright tug-of-war to keep those lines open, but I know it's been worth it every time I hear, "Mom, can I talk to you?"

"Sing to the Lord, all you godly ones! Praise His holy name."

Thankful Thursday at Truth 4 the Journey

It is so good to be joining up with Sonya over at Truth 4 the Journey for Thankful Thursday! It's one time of the week that I really look forward to. Not only so I can reflect on my thankfuls, but so that I can rejoice with you over yours!!

Let's go with my five thankfuls for this week....

1) I am thankful that my back feels almost "back" to normal!! :o) Ever since my surgery, I can't help but get a little nervous when I have a flare-up. But as He's always been, God is faithful.

2) I am thankful for a change in DD's shifts at work. Now she will be working more days than nights....a bit easier when it comes to planning around work schedules!!

3) I am thankful for the reassurance that God gives us. All we have to do is ask and He sends a word or a bit of confirmation that even though we may be a bit clueless, He's got it all under control.

4) I am thankful for new friends. Hi Karen!!!!!!!

5) I am thankful for my family. God has so blessed and even though there are those moments when I wonder if we'd rather start shooting at twenty paces, we have a home filled with love, laughter and joy.

Let's go with my five thankfuls for this week....

1) I am thankful for a sweet, sweet husband!! He surprised me with a dozen roses yesterday, just because!!

2) I am thankful for how well our biker day turned out at church this past Sunday. It was so awesome to see all of these bikers under one roof praising Jesus!!

3) I am thankful for two great teenagers...not perfect, just great!!!

4) I am thankful for the fact that God kept the rain off of us...except for a little drizzle...at Youthquake this past Saturday night. As always it was a great concert and Skillet was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5) I am thankful that I've been able to keep ahead of my laundry this week. No small feat to be sure, just a desire to be a better wife and steward of my time.

1) I am thankful for the sunshine. We have experienced so many cloudy, rainy days lately that this dose of sunshine is much appreciated!!

2) I am thankful for my DH's help when we made chow-chow this past Monday night. He had worked hard all day and there was so much to do to even get the ingredients ready for the chow-chow. It took us working together, 4 hours to finish up, but the result is 9 quarts of delicious chow-chow to enjoy this winter!!

3) I am thankful that I'm feeling some better today. I had back surgery in 1997, and due to a little....uhhhh......stubborness on my part, I have some permanent nerve damage. So occasionally I have some flare ups in my back and hip that put me in quite a bit of pain and make me walk a bit funny for a few days. Now is one of those times, but I am feeling better!!

4) I am thankful for the wonderful visit I had with my Mom, Dad, little sis and her kids this past weekend. We had such a good time enjoying Mom's cooking and just catching up with each other.

5) I am thankful for today. Today is my DH's 45th birthday!! I am married to the absolute most amazing, gentle, hard-working, loving, caring man on the planet.

1) I am thankful for a God Who watches over my children and keeps them safe. Until this week, it has rained almost everyday for the past 3 weeks. Very unusual for our area. This past Friday as DD was driving to work, she pushed on her breaks as she entered a curve. She lost control of the car. It went this way and that, spun around, jumped a curb and stopped against a two foot tall retaining wall. God used that tiny wall to keep her from going over an embankment and falling about 12 feet or so. What a mighty God we serve!!!!!!!!!!!

2) I am thankful for my best friend's new job. Due to circumstances out of her control, it was necessary for her to go back to work. A lot of time has passed since she began the 'hunt', but God was faithful and blessed her with a job that will work very well around her family's schedules.

3) I am thankful that DD has grown so much closer to God while she is in her dating sabbatical. She is a little over a month in, and it's amazing to see how much God has grown her, how many things she has worked through from her past and how hungry she is for anything of God.

4) I am thankful for the cooler weather. As I sit here at my computer, I am in my flannel pj's drinking some hot cocoa (from my homemade mix!!). The windows are open and it's a bit nippy in here. I love it!!!!!!!!

5) I am thankful for a very successful night with our church's first I Care ministry night. We were able to feed, do lawn care, demolition and construction for several families in need. It was an awesome way to watch God at work!!!!

1) I am so thankful that my Dad's surgery was a success!! He almost died twice and that terrified me. Dad and I are not as close as I'd love to be, but he is my Daddy and like any "little girl", Daddy is very special. That leads me to........

2) I am so thankful for a God that not only hears, but answers prayers. I fully understand that all answers are not always yes, but this time He chose to say yes to sparing my Dad which lets me know that God is giving him another chance to accept Him as Savior.

3) I am so thankful for the service at church this past Sunday night. The Holy Spirit was everywhere with everyone and I was blessed to be in the altar with my DH, DD and DS praying together, separately and for each other. Which leads me to.....

4) I am so thankful that DS had a one on One encounter with our Father. DS is so often okay with just hanging back and not drawing any attention to himself, but this past Sunday night the Holy Spirit took over and he was able to release so much that was keeping him bound and unable to fully live for Christ. HALLELUJAH!!!!

5) I am so thankful for the opportunity to also pray with a dear friend's husband that same night. While she was in the altar praying for him, DH and I were able to pray over him and feel the Holy Spirit's conviction on him. I'm confident that God will save this marriage!!!!

"For this, O Lord, I will praise you among the nations; I will sing praises to your name."

1) I am thankful that for my sweet hubby. Each day I realize more and more what an amazing man I am married to and how totally blessed I truly am!

2) I am thankful for the up close and personal I got with a humming bird this week. You see, this is my most favorite bird in the world and I have a couple of feeders placed so that I can watch them while I wash dishes or as I walk back and forth through the living room. Tuesday, I was painting some numbers to put on our porch for our address, and this little humming bird decided to check out what I was doing. We were less than a foot apart for close to a minute and I was afraid to breath because I didn't want him to fly away. He didn't seemed bothered by my presence though and hung around long enough to make my day!!

3) I am thankful for a Savior Who hears and answers my prayers. I serve an awesome God!!

4) I am thankful for 7 more pints of canned jalapenos. This summer is my first time canning peppers and they've actually turned out really well!!

5) I am thankful that my little sister is doing well in school. She was so nervous about going back to school after all these years, but she pulled herself up by the boot straps, jumped in and is doing wonderfully!!

Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday at Truth 4 the Journey

It is so good to be joining up with Sonya over at Truth 4 the Journey for Thankful Thursday!

I missed getting to link up with you guys last week because we were on vacation, but that makes "coming home" that much more special, doesn't it?

Let's go with my five thankfuls for this week....

1) I am thankful for complete safety and good health on our vacation. I don't know about anyone else, but I always pray that God will allow everyone good health so we can fully enjoy our time away. He was faithful about this yet again!

2) I am thankful for the Mama bear and cub we got to see in their natural habitat. She was so unconcerned about us and I was just totally consumed with the awesomeness of God!!

3) I am thankful that DD is doing so well on her dating sabbatical. The first week was kind of rough, but it has been miraculous to watch God peel off layers and layers of worldly lies and heal her wounds.

4) I am thankful that my first batch of homemade laundry soap turned out correctly!! Folks, I confess I've gotten a bit complacent about watching those pennies. Wonderful conviction from my Father has brought me back into the budget!

5) I am thankful for my brother-in-law's new wife. You see, my BIL is mentally challenged and at the age of 32....hasn't "grown up" and probably never will. He met a sweet young lady through our local mental health chapter and this past Saturday they became man and wife. Yes, they live in a mobile home in my MIL's backyard and yes they need someone to look after them and drive them around, but their love is genuine and unconditional. They look past the obvious issues into the love in each other's heart. It was a precious ceremony.

Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday at Truth 4 the Journey

Today I'm on my way home from the mountains, but I still wanted to join Sonya over at Truth 4 the Journey for Thankful Thursday.
Let's go!!!.....

1) I am thankful that God has provided that we could take this vacation. So many out of work and struggling and we are truly blessed beyond measure.

2) I am thankful that I am enjoying a week with none of the daily pressures that come with life. It is so nice to know that I don't have to cook a meal unless I want to or wash laundry or do anything else unless I want to.

3) I am thankful for a very dependable young man who was willing to house sit for us while we are away. He's taking care of our dogs and our very temperamental cat and just hanging out. It's great to know a wonderful, dependable 19 year old young man!!

4) I am thankful for the motorcycle ride that DH and I got to take on Saturday. We both had worked so hard to get things ready for vacation and we were hot and tired. The evening cooled off nicely and we got on the bike and just rode. We were able to slow down, cool off and enjoy time with each other.

5) I am thankful for my wonderful Savior. He blesses me and blesses me and I just can't grasp why. I know me and I wouldn't put up with me very long, but for some crazy reason, He loves me...and you...just as we are!!...

"Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:18, NLT

Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday at Truth 4 the Journey

It's time once again, to join Sonya over at Truth 4 the Journey for Thankful Thursday. It's the one day of the week that we purposefully stop and give thanks to the One that blesses us far beyond what we deserve.

It seems as if busy would be an understatement lately and I feel like I've been letting so much fall by the wayside. You see, I have a blessing/curse personality.....things must be organized and in order---I'm not obsessive, but almost---and when they're not, I feel like chaos has walked in and shoved me under and I can't get up enough to catch a breath of air....I've went around for this whole week chanting to myself, "I am where God wants me to be. I am where God wants me to be."

So, since "I am" sitting at this computer, here goes my 5 thankfuls for this week.......

1) I am thankful that my Dad's tests went pretty well yesterday. The blockages that were at 60% two weeks ago are now down to 25%. However he does still have a blockage of 80% in a main artery in his heart, so that means a stint for that artery in September. He did well yesterday however. I do ask you all to continue to pray for his salvation. His health is important, yes, but his eternity is so much more so...

2) I am thankful for the spoken word from God that DD got this past Sunday morning. It was an answer to one of the biggest prayers that DH and I have been praying for quite some time. The change in her thinking has been a total miracle this week. Satan is still trying to prod her and bring up past incidents to confuse her, but she is fighting him back with the Word and prayer. She is a very private person, but took the huge step (for her) this week to include several people outside our family to help keep her accountable.

3) I am thankful for new friends. This past Friday I was able to meet fellow blogger Lori from That's So God, her 2 sweet daughters, Sarah and Hannah, and the newest addition to her family, Anna. A person can never have to many friends or family in Christ and I'm thrilled that my family has gotten bigger!!

4) I am thankful for the relationship that my two children share with each other. I admit that there have been times, even in the last year, that I've wondered if they even liked each other--but I stand in awe when I see that every thing they've been through has just brought them closer together.

5) I am thankful for an awesome husband. I've mentioned before how demanding and high stress his job is. A couple of unplanned hours away from his job can cause him days of work. At a moments notice he dropped everything to go with me to the hospital yesterday and just sit. Even though we leave on vacation in 5 days. Even though this will make his next 2 days at work unbelievably stressed, he dropped it all to support me and my family. I am married to the most amazing man on the planet!!..

Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday at Truth 4 the Journey

It is time for Thankful Thursday and linking up with Sonya over at Truth 4 the Journey. I want to thank Sonya for hosting Thankful Thursday and giving all of us the opportunity to list our thankfuls for the week.

How about zipping over to Sonya's site, linking up and listing your thankfuls as well.

Here are my 5 thankfuls for this week.....

1) I am thankful to still have a child to homeschool this year. Yes, I am having a hard time letting go and so still having DS to teach is a great reason to be thankful!!!

2) I am thankful for great bargains at the grocery store. DH and I are trying so hard to become debt free (thanks Dave!!!) and this budget thing isn't always easy!!!

3) I am thankful that my Mom and Dad were able to come over and celebrate my birthday with me!! Their health is not the best and so time spent with them is a great reason to be thankful!

4) I am thankful for a hubby that is obedient to listen to and obey God's calling, even when it takes him out of his comfort zone.

5) I am thankful that even though DD has gotten chastised by the Holy Spirit this week, she is obedient enough to Him to confess and admit she ran ahead of Him and got in His way---and then do an about face and allow Him to straighten out her mess.

Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday at Truth 4 the Journey

Today's the day I join Sonya over at Truth 4 the Journey for Thankful Thursday.

This is one of the best times of the week because it causes me to pause and reflect and just thank my Father for His blessings instead of always coming to Him with another request.

Here goes my 5 thankfuls for the week.....

1) I am thankful that I don't have to go back to the Dr for 5 months. Since the lump scare in January, I've been going every 2-3 months for a recheck. As of Monday, there has been no change so Doc decided to stretch the time frame a bit farther!!

2) I am thankful for a wonderful hubby!!! Tuesday night I had so much I needed to get done, but I really need to vacuum the pool since DD had a friend coming over to swim. Anyone with a pool knows that maintenance is very time consuming!!!....anyway...my DH (without me knowing) brought my laundry in off the line and broke the beans I had picked earlier. Then he got in the pool with me for a bit. Afterwards, he helped me do the dishes and straighten the kitchen....all after 8½ hours of maintenance at the hospital....He TOTALLY rocks!!!!!!!!!

3) I am thankful that DD got to go to church last night. Her job has kept her away for the last 4 Wednesday nights and since changing churches, she hates to miss.

4) I am thankful for 2 crockpots and a bread machine. I could help but get tickled yesterday. On my kitchen counter sat a 6 quart crockpot with a roast in it. A 4 quart crockpot contained potatoes au grautin and the bread machine was busy baking bread. It was quite a sight but it sure was nice to enjoy a 'real' meal on a Wednesday night!!

5) I am thankful that we are counting down until vacation. Only 3 more weeks!!!!!!!!............(now if we could just decide South Carolina or the Gulf!!..........)

"Enter His gates with thanksgiving, go into His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and praise His name."
Psalm 100:4, NLT

Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday at Truth 4 the Journey

Happy Thursday morning!! It's once again time to join Sonya over at Truth 4 the Journey for Thankful Thursday.

Let me encourage you to visit Sonya and share in other's blessings for the week and maybe even share some of your own.

Here we go with this week's thankfuls:

1) I am thankful for a hubby who is so talented. He can---literally---fix just about anything! Sunday night our fan motor on our air unit went out. For some reason (I'm sure it was a God thing) he had another motor in his shop. Anyone who lives in the south knows how important it is to have a working air unit in July!! He just got that other motor and within an hour, we had a cool house once again.

2) I am thankful to be a stay at home mom. With our economy and so many people around us losing their jobs, God has been very faithful in allowing me to still be at home with our finances safe for now.

3) I am thankful for the opportunity my little sis has to go back to school to get her nursing degree. She was layed off almost a year ago and the way has been opened for her to get her degree. This is a great thing for a single mom of two. I'm really proud of her!

4) I am thankful my teens clean bedrooms. I'm serious!!! The last two mornings I've been able to get right next to their beds to wake them up instead of stubbing a toe and falling on them to wake them up! It's been great!!!

5) I am thankful that my sweet friend Britney will be home next week. She has spent her summer as a missionary in Peru and while I am so thankful that she has got to serve, I'm selfish enough to be ready for her to be home!!

"But as for me, how good it is to be near to God! I have made the Sovereign Lord my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things You do." Psalm 73:28, NLT
